U25 ROWING
Thanks to all clubs who have taken the time to complete the short questionnaire. If your club hasn’t yet, please do so as it will close tomorrow – 31st October, 2022.
The CPGA are aware that membership of clubs varies greatly. Most clubs catering for a vast age range.
Therefore, the CPGA are doing a quick poll to get the bigger picture on the U25 rowing / racing.
SUPERVETS CHAMPIONSHIP 2023
Thanks to the clubs who have responded to the email regarding potential hosting of a supervets championship 2023 in partnership with the CPGA.
You will all be contacted in due course, so please keep an eye on your inbox.
PROVISIONAL FIXTURE LIST 2023
A couple of weeks ago the provisional fixture list V1 for 2023 was published to clubs.
Following the publication, there have been a few additions / changes.
The fixture list V2 will be published shortly.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This will take place on Sunday 15th January, 2023. More information will follow regarding timings.
Any proposals are required by the 30th October. (TODAY) They must follow the required format. Proposer and seconder (two full CPGA member clubs).
Any potential new clubs are required to complete a CPGA membership application form and submit by the 30th October 2022 (TODAY)
CELEBRATING SUCCESS
Has your club / crews / individual members been awarded a local area trophy, been recognised for the work that you do for charity, the list is endless of what clubs can and do achieve, but we want to celebrate the success of all clubs with everyone.
So, if you clubs has won any awards in 2022, please send in an article and photo that can be shared via social media with not only the gig community, but the sporting community in general. Send to admin@cpga.co.uk
AWARDS NOMINATION TIME
Its that time of year when there are various awards asking for nominations.
You no doubt have people in your club worthy of being nominated or even your club, so do please take a look at the various links and nominate away.
London Sport Awards
To celebrate the efforts of volunteers, physical activity projects and sport organisations who have improved the lives of Londoner, physical health, mental and social wellbeing.
There are a total of ten (10) categories, please use the link to the overview page, choose a category and then get nominating.
Nominations close on the Sunday 6th November 2022.
Sports and Recreation Alliance – Community Awards 2023
The awards programme has been running for more than 25 years, celebrating the full breadth and power of sport and recreation, from rowing projects to rugby clubs to inclusive sports charities and climbing centres.
Submission of an entry is free, they are keen to hear about projects and initiatives that work with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. There are eight (8) categories that feature in the Community Sports and Recreation Awards 2022. Each winning project picking up a £1000 prize.

ENERGISE ME – HANTS – BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND AUTISTIC PEOPLE
A free course offered online by the Active Partnership – Energise Me (Hampshire).
It is going to explore some of the assumptions around autism and aspects of the autistic experience to help you better support autistic people.

SPORT ENGLAND – COST OF LIVING
Everyone is looking more closely at the cost of living, and Sport England have shared a document that explores current, collective understanding of how the cost of living impacts people’s activity levels.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP 2022 3rd QUARTER
Your club membership 3rd quarter was due by the 30th September, 2022
Thanks to all those clubs who have submitted by the deadline.
Missing membership:
- Newhaven
- Padstow
- Port Isaac
- Rock
Please note we are aware that some clubs have significant number of members who have Gigrower membership, but we do need to record the actual number of rowers who are part of the gig rowing world.
So please do submit the most up to date club membership registers. If there has been ‘no change’ we still require an email that notes that.
IOS 2023 PASSENGER TRAVEL
The IOSSC have released dates and fares for their 2023 timetable.
The CPGA supplied a list of CPGA clubs to the IOSSC and following the recent email to all clubs, on acknowledgment from your first / second contacts, your unique club discount will be shared with them and they can then share with the club as required.
Please note, the code must not appear on any social media and any abuse of the code will result in the club members losing potential discounts in future years.
CLUB STRUCTURE
There are various legal structures and the CPGA has previously published information.
There is a great resource on the internet via Club Matters which is Sport England.
Do take a look and if you are unincorporated, do think about the implications.
UPDATING CONTACT INFO – GENERAL
As we move towards the AGM season and changes do occur. Please read the following and update via the link.
You can update your contact information at any time via this link – Updating Club Contact info.
If you want to double check that the info has been received email admin@cpga.co.uk to say there is an amendment, all the information will then be taken from the info submitted via the form.
Reminder – the CPGA need to have up to date contact information for your clubs:
- 1st Contact (contact shared with all CPGA clubs)
- 2nd Contact (only for CPGA use)
- Safety Officer
- Welfare Officer
GIG BUILDS
Following the last few years when gig builds were quieter, it now seems that there is a new lease of life.
If your club has commissioned a build, please complete the following (even if you think that we know about the build). This then allows the standards team to be up to date with current and forthcoming builds.

WICKES COMMUNITY PROGRAMME

GIGROWER MEMBERSHIP
The CPGA has introduced a new individual membership, inviting everyone in the gig rowing community to become GigRower members.
Member clubs of the Cornish Pilot Gig Association CIO voted for the introduction of an individual membership. GigRower membership is open to all, welcoming rowers, supporters, and anyone who loves the sport.
