Saturday 1 October saw the launch of a supreme effort from members of the BGRC. As a club we are rowing around Britain without leaving the WI Hall in West Bay! Enthusiastic efforts are being made by a committed team using the club ergo rowing machines, the sweat is building!

This heartfelt push is to raise funds for the club to buy a new wooden pilot gig boat. The gig is being built by Brian Nobbs, the same person who built our beloved gig Brydian.

Would you like to get involved?

Join us on the ergo? Set your own target and complete at your own pace? If so it is never too late to join in, please email Dave Thomas at and come and share in the energy and excitement of being part of the team.

Alternatively, if taking part and raising sponsorship is not for you then please visit our Justgiving page via the link below and sponsor the efforts of those sweating away on ergos both at home and in the WI Hall.

This season has been a really successful one for the club – both on and off the water. Regattas and events attended across the UK involved a wide range of age groups and fitness levels; the enjoyment factor has been there for everyone taking part.

Sponsoring our fundraising efforts would give a real boost to those tackling the thousands of km that need to be covered for us to achieve our goal.

Thank you for your support.
