Supervet crews from across the south and west were blessed with perfect conditions in Swanage on 16 October. There was a proper regatta buzz in the air, the sun shone, the sea was flat, little breeze, and Swanage Sea Rowing Club hospitality was as brilliant as ever as rowers and spectators gathered to compete in competitive racing around a long, kite shaped course.
First out were the 19 ladies crews, racing in 3 heats against the clock. Our fabulous ladies – Carol, Rachel D, Rachel M, Debbs, Cara and Liz, coxed by Jason M did brilliantly to finish in the top 6, earning them a place in the Overall final in the afternoon.
It was then the turn of the men, where 22 crews took to the water, with our supermen – Jim, Chris, Shayne, Wreford, Andy S and Andy A, coxed by Debbs secured a place in the afternoon’s plate final.
The ladies came a very respectable 5th overall, and the men a close second to the hosts’ A crew in their final. Congratulations to Salcombe Ladies and Caradon Men on their impressive victories.
It’s always dangerous to single anybody out in a report, but Debbs did a fabulous job coxing her first racing with buoy turns, and Andy A has to have been one of the quickest rowers to graduate from LTR to a racing squad! Hats off to you all – great results topping off a thoroughly enjoyable day, thank you to everybody who made it happen.
