It’s July, it’s raining, the weather is blowing up and rowing is cancelled for a couple of days at least, so the perfect opportunity for a quick update on what we have been getting up to at BGRC.
The great news is that – a stormy run of weather in May aside, we’ve been on the water, en masse at every opportunity. That’s general rowers, juniors, mens, ladies, masters and mixed squads, all loving being out enjoying the sea air. Squads are following training plans to build up strength and endurance leading into various championships in the Autumn, We are keeping everything crossed that they don’t yet again fall to the alter of Covid.
It’s fantastic to welcome new comers to our ‘Learn to Row’ courses, and finally make in-roads into the list of would-be rowers who’ve waited so patiently for an easing of regulations and the opportunity to actually pick up an oar. We follow strict Covid guidance from our governing bodies, and – like everybody else – look forward to the day when some intra and inter club events can resume. Keep everything crossed and watch this space!
